Ukrainian game development and publishing studio Burny Games, known for its mobile puzzle titles, is closing out 2025 with a major strategic shift. This year the company doubled down on expanding its product portfolio, accelerating the launch pipeline, and scaling its newly built publishing arm – a move designed to test ideas faster and use resources with Silicon-Valley-grade efficiency.

A Year of Metrics That Matter

2025 was a year of steady upward momentum. Burny Games became Ukraine’s No.1 game-dev employer and significantly boosted its brand visibility worldwide: over 100 media mentions and participation in 35 industry events across multiple countries.

By December, the team grew to 140 specialists – a pace that earned the studio DOU’s title of the fastest-growing mobile game company in Ukraine.

The product ecosystem expanded too. Burny Games’ games surpassed 60M total downloads. Colorwood Sort remains the flagship with 35M+ installs and a consistent presence in the U.S. App Store top 20. Colorwood Words hit 5M installs, showing strong retention curves.

The newcomer, Colorwood Associations, became the company’s first publishing-era launch – and landed 2M downloads in its first weeks on the market.

Publishing, Reinvented

2025 marked Burny Games’ official entry into mobile game publishing. The debut project, Colorwood Associations, was co-created with Portugal-based Infinity Games. Instead of mass-production pipelines, Burny Games is building a partnership-driven publishing framework – lean, selective, and deeply integrated into each project.

“We’re here to partner, not to run an assembly line. It’s about choosing the games we believe in and helping teams win,” says CEO Anatolii Henis.

Innovations

In 2025 Burny Games rolled out a business-unit structure – essentially mini-studios operating autonomously under their producers. This shift freed the teams from focusing exclusively on a handful of existing products and opened the door to faster experimentation.

“The new model gives teams autonomy – decisions happen faster, adaptation is instant,” notes Henis.

Global expansion also took a decisive step forward with localization into Japanese and Korean – two markets that can dramatically reshape mobile revenue trajectories.

Culture as a Feature

One of the year’s standout initiatives was the Ukrainian localization of Colorwood Words, released for Constitution Day. The update blended cultural motifs, humor, and educational facts – and reached over 1M users through media and social campaigns. It showcased how Burny Games turns cultural storytelling into a brand-building asset.

What’s Next in 2026

The roadmap for 2026 centers on a bigger portfolio, deeper publishing capabilities, and more refined production processes. The company plans to strengthen its global footprint, experiment with hybrid monetization models, and roll out multiple new titles in the first half of the year.
