Games from Ukraine Reception: A Recap
Burny Games hosted the Games from Ukraine Reception for the third time and raised €19,000 at a charity auction during gamescom
As part of Europe's biggest gaming industry event — gamescom in Cologne — Burny Games held its third networking gathering. The center piece of the Games from Ukraine Reception was a charity auction, where attendees raised €19,000. Over four and a half years of these events, the total amount raised has now surpassed €109,000.
"For me, €100,000 is a very special milestone. When we held the first Reception back in 2022, we certainly didn't expect that in just a few years these gatherings would help raise this kind of sum. But what matters most here isn't even the number — it's that the international game dev community keeps showing up for Ukraine. People come, they donate, they take part in the auction, and thanks to that, we're able to cover specific needs for those who need it right now," says Olena Lobova, organizer of the Games from Ukraine Reception and Head of Partnerships at Burny Games.
The most expensive lot was a pair of boxing gloves signed by the Klitschko brothers, provided by HeroCar. It sold for €6,500, with the proceeds going toward the purchase of a pickup truck.
Fighters from the Mantykora battalion also contributed to the fundraiser: they donated three lots and organized a raffle, together raising €3,200 of the total sum.
This marks the third event of its kind from Burny Games. The company also co-organizes the Ukrainian booth at gamescom.
